Zip HydroTap Filter Change
Zip HydroTap filters should be changed every 6 months or 2,000 litres (domestic), whichever comes first. In hard water areas or high-usage environments, more frequent changes may be required.
Filter Change Procedure (G5)
- Access the filter via the under-sink tank unit
- Turn the filter a quarter-turn anticlockwise to release
- Remove the old filter and dispose responsibly
- Insert the new filter and turn clockwise until locked
- Reset the filter counter via the tap touchpad or MyZip app
- Run 3-4 litres of water through the new filter before use
Zip HydroTap Error Codes
Tank temperature fault. The tank is not reaching operating temperature. May indicate a failed heating element or thermostat. Book an engineer.
Temperature sensor fault. Sensor may be damaged or disconnected. Engineering visit required.
Flow sensor fault. No water detected through the system. Check mains water supply is on and water pressure is adequate.
Filter life expired. Change the filter and reset the counter.
Low water pressure. Check incoming mains pressure is above 1 bar. A pressure reducing valve may need adjustment.
Filter change reminder. Not a fault — replace the filter at your earliest convenience.
Zip HydroTap Maintenance Schedule
To maintain warranty validity and peak performance, Zip recommends the following service schedule:
- Every 6 months: Filter change
- Annually: Full service — filter change, tank descale, sanitisation, safety check, CO2 cylinder replacement (if sparkling model)
- Every 2 years: Full component inspection including tank, valves and electrical connections
Zip HydroTap Common Faults
No boiling water
Check the tap is switched on and the tank has power. Allow 10-15 minutes for the tank to heat from cold. If still no boiling water after this time, check for error codes. A failed heating element is the most common cause in older units.
Tap dripping or leaking
A dripping Zip tap usually indicates a worn valve seat or O-ring. This is a common maintenance item on units over 3 years old. Do not ignore a leak — water near electrical components is a safety hazard.
Cloudy or poor-tasting water
Usually indicates a filter in need of replacement. Change the filter immediately and flush 3-4 litres through the system.
Tap not dispensing / blocked
Check the tap aerator is not blocked with limescale. Remove and soak in descaling solution. Also check filter is not overdue for replacement.
